ABOUT NICK OLIVIER
Chief Facilitative Educationist
Nick Olivier is a distinguished forensic educationist and Certified Fraud Examiner with over three decades of cross-sectoral leadership in forensic investigations, education, and occupational training across South Africa and the African continent. He is currently the Chief Facilitative Educationist at NickOlivier.Org and Chief Executive Officer at Forensic Academy Africa, where he has pioneered innovative training models, advanced curriculum design, and competency-based assessment strategies tailored for the investigative, forensic and fraud risk management fields.
A registered assessor and moderator with SASSETA, Nick has led the full lifecycle development and implementation of External Integrated Summative Assessments (EISAs) aligned with the QCTO assessment policies at NQF Levels 5 to 8. He has authored Qualification Assessment Specification (QAS) addenda and moderated assessment instruments for FASSET, SASSETA, and merSETA, ensuring alignment with sectoral and national quality standards.
Nick holds professional affiliations with leading industry bodies, including the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (International and South African chapters), South African Academy of Forensic Sciences, African Association of Threat Assessment Professionals, and the International Association of Financial Crimes Investigators. He also serves as Provincial Coordinator (Gauteng) for the National Skills Development Providers Association (NSDPA) and is a member representative of APPETD.
Academically, he is a Doctor of Education candidate at the Tshwane University of Technology, researching collaborative curriculum practices and the registration status of forensic qualifications in South Africa. His postgraduate credentials include a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Management (UNICAF), a Postgraduate Diploma in Digital Business (Emeritus), and a Bachelor of Arts in Police Science (UNISA), among other specialised forensic and business qualifications.
Nick is widely regarded for his pioneering contributions to digital transformation in forensic education, including the integration of AI tools, data analytics in assessment tracking, and digital assessment platforms. He has facilitated the annual Anti-Fraud Colloquium, workshops and delivered lectures in South Africa, Mauritius, Namibia, Rwanda, and Zimbabwe, often engaging on international frameworks.
His expertise in anti-fraud strategies, forensic science, anti-bribery systems, and fraud risk readiness has informed his strategic input on public and private sector compliance and capacity-building initiatives. Nick has also led multidisciplinary research and training teams, driving curriculum reform, applied RPL implementation, and industry-informed qualification development. As a thought leader, his work bridges forensic fields, education, governance, and risk, delivering impactful, evidence-based solutions across both academic and professional landscapes.
